Fair Lawn Council Mulls Rezoning Of Vanderbeck Property

FAIR LAWN, N.J. — The fate of the historic Jacob Vanderbeck Jr. House remains uncertain as the Fair Lawn borough council is deadlocked on whether to consult a planner regarding rezoning the property, northjersey.com reports.

With the borough be able to save the Jacob Vanderbeck Jr. house on Dunkerhook Road in Fair Lawn or will it be raised to make way for new developments?

Robert Milanese from Barrister Land Development Corp, who is under contract to purchase the 3-acre property, has requested the Dunkerhook Road property be rezoned to allow 24 town houses, the paper said.

Barrister’s proposal would preserve the historic home, however borough officials are not in agreement on whether town houses are a good use for the property, the report said.

The council will revisit the issue at its next work session on Oct. 6.
